Obi-Wan Kenobi was born to be a Jedi. At a very young age, like all Jedi, his Force sensitivity was detected and he
was taken away from his family (which included a brother) to be trained at the Temple. Obi-Wan became one of the greatest Jedi to ever live and serve, due to his
unrelenting belief and devotion to the Force and the Jedi code. Obi-Wan's personality is marked by kindness and patience, and an aura of ageless wisdom.
The role the Jedi play in the Star Wars galaxy, is one of galactic peace keeping. This can mean protecting someone, or even negotiating on his or her behalf.
Most, if not all, Jedi are loyal and, through their connection with the Force and their belief in it, are willing to give their lives to the cause.
Although attachment and possession are forbidden to a Jedi, compassion is essential, and this is one trait which certainly shows through in Obi-Wan. As Obi-Wan grew older, so did Sabé--did they remain friends after the events of Episode I? Did their shared interest in the galaxy around them put them in a place where they could be partners?
During the events of Episode I, Obi-Wan was left alone, on a ship full of strangers. Among them, the Queen, who he was sworn to protect, and who he had secret suspicions about. Some think that he may have formed a friendship with the "Queen," and upon spending more time with her he perhaps discovered that she was a decoy, not a real Queen. Because of similar goals and personalities, they might have become fast friends, or even more than that... either way, when Padme reveals herself as Queen, the knowing smile on Obi-Wan's face garners surprise from Qui-Gon.
Obi-Wan went into protective hiding on the remote and desolate planet of Tatooine. He lived out the rest of his life there. Did he have a companion? Or did he spend his time remembering a love that was?
