Sabé and Obi-Wan moments and proof

Episode I Moments - Episode II Moments - Book Moments

Here are screencaps of the times we see Sabé and Obi-Wan's 'relationsip' on screen. We take it seriously, but hey. That's just us. Accompanied by pictures to illustrate our points. Hold your mouse over the image(s) to see further comments/explainations

Obi-Wan finishes off those droids and gives his lightsaber a twirl Obi-Wan's eyes land on the Queen He decides to give his lightsaber another twirl And then proceeds to continue looking at the Queen Sure enough: he's looking at the Queen. And take note... Padmé is not visible.
01: The Rescue
It begins as Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon leap to the 'Queen's' rescue. The interesting 'hint' here is demonstrated above. As Obi-Wan finishes destroying the battle droids, his eyes catch sight of the Queen, close up. He gives his lightsaber an extra twirl. And the look in his eyes... We always thought he looked captivated, like one of those love-at-first-sight moments. Also, take note: Padmé is not visible. Therefore, he is not looking at her.

Sabé speaks Sabé and Obi-Wan stand next to each other, as Sabé makes her decision
02: Deciding to go to Coruscant
Obi-Wan is now the Queen's protector, and stands next to her as Qui-Gon, Panaka, Bibble and Sabé converse. He observes her quietly, listening to her reasonings and the reasonings of her advisors.

Sabé and Obi-Wan watch the holo message from Sio Bibble. Obi-Wan warns Sabé, 'send no transmission'.
03: Sio Bibble's Plea
Upon Tatooine, Obi-Wan and Sabé watch the message from Sio Bibble. Obi-Wan then warns Sabé to send no transmission. You cannot say that Sabé and Obi-Wan never interact... it is during the time upon Tatooine that they most likely interacted the most. Think about it. On that small ship, for three days, they had to have spoken, he, the Jedi, she, the Queen. The two people 'in charge'.

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon greet the Chancellor, as Sabé emerges Obi-Wan turns to lock eyes with Sabé... Sabé is the one who breaks eye contact, as she looks down. Obi-Wan looks down and away, a frown appearing on his face. Notice the weird look on Qui-Gon's face. I think he saw.
04: The Landing Platform
The famous 'look'. We recommend getting your DVD out and watching this scene several times, until your DVD breaks, watching carefully. You'll see Sabé and Obi-Wan exchange the glance. Obi-Wan looks troubled afterwards. Sabé looks particularly sad and resolute in this scene. And Qui-Gon looks sort of strange as well. Click here to see the famous look in an animated GIF

Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Valorum watch as Sabé leaves Qui-Gon and the Chancellor begin to talk, but Obi-Wan's eyes stay on Sabé... After about five seconds, Obi-Wan finally looks away.
05: A Long Stare
As Sabé leaves, Qui-Gon talks to Valorum... Obi-Wan, however, his eyes stay in Sabé's direction for quite a long five seconds, before he finally pays attention to his master and Valorum.

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon with the Jedi Council Sabé, in her blue gown... soon to be all alone.
06: Where was Sabé?
Sabé, although dressed for Queen Amidala's senate appearance, does not go... Obi-Wan has a few hours between his meetings with the Jedi council... perhaps they met up! That would explain where Sabé flitted off to!

Sabé tries to talk to the Gungans Padmé decides Sabé is not doing well enough. 'This is my bodyguard, my loyal decoy'. Sabé seems stunned and saddened. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan hear the news Qui-Gon turns with a slightly confused look on his face. Obi-Wan smiles, very pleased with himself. He knew. Yes, Obi-Wan is VERY pleased with himself. Again, I say it. He knew. Anakin is clueless, as usual.
07: The Moment of Truth
The moment of truth comes, as it always does. Padmé reveals that she is the Queen, and that Sabé is not. Qui-Gon looks slightly confused as he turns to look at his padawan, who smiles in such a way... such a way that it is obvious that he knew. Somehow, he knew. Qui-Gon then smiles, but his smile is different than Obi-Wan's. Just watch carefully. And might I add, that Anakin was totally clueless! Ironic, isn't it?

Obi-Wan and Sabé are always standing near each other. Curious.
07: Farewell to Oppression
I would also like to point out that Sabé is nearly always standing near Obi-Wan. During the scene where the Nemodians are 'exiled' so to speak, Sabé and Obi-Wan are standing near to each other. Both Sabé and Obi-Wan frown together at the Nemodians, then both regard the Supreme Chancellor rather suspiciously.

Again, the two stand near to each other =) Obi-Wan checks Sabé out =O just kidding. One of the last shots: and they lived happily ever after.
09: Theed Parade
And as the film ends, Sabé is once again behind Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan even checks Sabé out. Just kidding. A sense of happy endings fills the air. But we Sobiwan shippers want to believe it's just the beginning.
